Apocalypse Now: Final Cut

3h 3m Drama, War, Action 1979

Restored and recut, this is Coppola's iconic masterpiece in all its grandiose splendor

Recently restored to Francis Ford Coppola’s “perfect vision” from the original negatives (and notably different than the 2001 Redux edition), APOCALYPSE NOW: FINAL CUT is Coppola’s most realized version of the film, which was nominated for eight Academy Awards, won three Golden Globes, and is one of AFI’s top 100 films.

The visually dazzling masterpiece is a surreal, hallucinatory, epic tragedy about the horror of the Vietnam War. U.S. Army Intelligence officer Benjamin Willard (Martin Sheen) is sent on a dangerous mission that, officially, “does not exist, nor will it ever exist.” His goal is to locate - and eliminate - a mysterious Green Beret Colonel named Walter Kurtz (Marlon Brando), who has been leading his personal army on illegal guerrilla missions into enemy territory.
