***LET THE WRONG ONE IN
Sibling rivalry takes on a whole new meaning when one brother is turned into a vampire and has to rely on his younger brother to protect him.
When Matt’s estranged older brother Deco turns up at his flat looking like shit one morning, Matt figures he’s just on another typical loser bender. But Deco’s symptoms turn out to be more than a wicked hangover, and his newly grown fangs leave little doubt as to what’s happening. He’s fallen victim to a group of vampires terrorizing Dublin, posing as a group of hard-partying bachelorettes out on the prowl. As a brand-new vampire, Deco needs his brother’s help to survive… but he also kind of wants to eat him.
LET THE WRONG ONE IN is a wonderfully silly horror comedy, full of ridiculously rude jokes and great visual gags. Taking full advantage of its location in Dublin, the film is filled with local color, great accents, and regional humor. Director Conor McMahon has assembled a fantastic cast of comedic actors, and it’s a blast seeing Anthony Head bring his years of experience playing vampire slayer Rupert Giles on BUFFY to the table as a cab-driver-turned-slayer, intent on stopping his undead fiancée from killing the entire city. You can’t ask for much more from a fun, irreverent take on the traditional vampire tale. Fans of SHAUN OF THE DEAD won’t want to miss this one! (LISA DREYER)
