Machete Maidens Unleashed! chronicles a magical time in the 1970s and 1980s when Imelda Marcos had two passions in life: building the finest shoe collection in the world and building a film production studio to rival Hollywood. Incentives were rich and if you had the bravado or tomfoolery to mount a production in an inhospitable and politically unstable jungle, you had the Filipino dictatorship to feed you what you needed: tanks, helicopters, extras, locations. It was an exploiteer’s dream.

See a dazzling array of absolutely bonkers movies and the equally zany characters who risked life and limb in the pursuit of quality, albeit sometimes sleazy, not-so-family-friendly entertainment. Directed by Mark Harley (NOT QUITE HOLLYWOOD, ELECTRIC BOOGALOO) and featuring stories from Roger and Julie Corman, Joe Dante, Brian Trenchard-Smith, John Landis and many more legends of the game.
