Shaolin Soccer (2001)

Action, Comedy, Family 1h 27m 2001

If Jackie Chan and Bugs Bunny combined forces to overhaul the World Cup, you might get something close to the lunatic fantasy sports of SHAOLIN SOCCER. When a down on his luck kung fu teacher learns that there’s a big cash prize for the winners of a big soccer tournament, he gathers his out-of-practice Shaolin brothers to form a soccer team that utilizes supernatural martial arts and physical technique. The rules of gravity go out the window as these masters take the field. This movie was an international crossover hit for Stephen Chow, clown prince of Hong Kong, whose anarchic sense of humor mixes cartoon slapstick and absurd characters.
